IU Mass Spectrometry Facility

To prepare for the new QE Plus LCMS + Vanquish UHPLC which will replace the Thermo Orbitrap XL for accurate mass high res, we must take down the Orbi on Monday, April 22nd to prepare for electrical changes and room configuration.  Then the week of April 29th the new QE Plus instrument will be installed, therefore there will be no high res ESI or APCI from Monday, April 22nd through Friday May 3rd, 2024!

Announcements

The iLab site for sample submission and usage tracking is now live!  Please use iLab for all services in the MSF.  If you do not have an iLab account, please contact Angela Hansen or Dr. Rob Pepin.

Overview of Services

The IU Mass Spectrometry Facility has been confirming atomic composition by accurate mass spectrometry since 1965.  It offers self-serve nominal mass GC-MS and LC-MS as well as staff-supported advanced experiment design/execution.  We are found on the 4th floor of the Chemistry Building at IU-Bloomington.  Services include walk-up GC-MS, walk-up LC-MS, headspace GC-MS, accurate MS formula confirmation by ESI, APCI, EI, screening by high throughput LC-MS, MALDI-TOF MS of polymers, MALDI Imaging, LC-MS or GC-MS method development, GC-MS metabolomics, triple quad LC-MS-MS, and training for most of the above techniques.  We also work closely with Dr. Jonathan Trinidad and the staff of the Laboratory for Biological Mass Spectrometry in Simon Hall.
