About our Facility

The McMaster University Centre for Microbial Chemical Biology is an open access facility associated with the Michael G. DeGroote Institute for Infectious Disease Research.  The facility features six integrated labs that provide research support, hands-on training, and services in chemistry and biology.  The CMCB offers easy access to state-of-the-art equipment that is well-maintained by our expert staff.  Users have access to all equipment and are trained to be independent operators.  Alternatively, CMCB staff members are available to assist with designing and completing individual experiments and projects for researchers. The CMCB is available for use by both academic and industrial clients.

Overview of Services

The CMCB features six core labs that enable chemical biology research to be conducted in one central location.  We provide the capabilities necessary for:

  • Cell growth and lysis
  • Protein expression and purification
  • Enzyme kinetics and assay development
  • Biomolecular interactions
  • Real time PCR
  • Small molecule high throughput screening
  • Mass spectrometry and NMR
  • Natural product extract fractionation
  • Data analysis
