The Molecular Histopathology and Analytical Microscopy Core (MHAM) is a full range, state of the art resource facility, part of the LSU Cancer Center, housed in the Louisiana Cancer Research Center (LCRC) building.
The primary mission of this scientific core is to assist investigators of the LSU COBRE grant, and investigators of the Cancer Center and the region in the detection of protein dynamics in any type of cellular models and cancer tissue; while assuring high quality, consistent reproducibility, and technical expertise for microscopy and histopathological studies.
Histochemical and immunohistochemical methodologies are offered to provide information on protein expression, localization and interactions between viral and cellular proteins. Molecular histopathology, including in situ hybridization, are performed to provide investigators with information regarding cellular and viral DNA and/or RNA.
Our microscopes are capable of analyzing intracellular trafficking and sub-cellular localization of molecules involved in protein phosphorylation; signal transduction; cell cycle progression; cell-to-cell contact; cell motility; cell differentiation; apoptosis, angiogenesis; invasion or metastasis; DNA repair; gene expression; and drug discovery. The MHAM provides training and assisted support for all of its microscopes.
The Core is not obligated to provide histopathology expertise or figures, which is the resposibility of the Principal Investigators.
