X-Ray Crystallography and Macromolecular Characterization Core

Overview of Services

Welcome to the X-ray Crystallography Core Facility.  The X-ray Crystallography Core Facility is one of the Shared Resources facilities at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope.

The objective of the facility is to:

  1. Provide homogeneous and well characterized protein for biochemical researches
  2. Provide structural information to understand mechanisms of biological systems at the atomic level
  3. Validate binding sites of lead compounds of therapeutic interest
  4. Facilitate lead discovery through co-crystallization of therapeutic targets and small molecule libraries

Services provided include:

  • Protein expression in E. coli, insect cells (baculovirus-mediated expression Hi5 cells), and mammalian cells
  • Protein purification using a large variety of chromatographic techniques
  • Protein charaterization using biophysical approaches
  • Protein crystallization
  • Diffraction quality
  • Data collections
  • Structure determination

Research reported in this publication included work performed in the X-ray Crystallography Core supported by the National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health under award number P30CA33572.
