Overview of Services
The Biostatistical Consulting Core is a fee-for-service core unit in the School of Medicine.
The BCC provides biostatistical consultation, collaboration, education and support for all aspects of a research endeavor.
1. General biostatistical consultation
- Study design: all phases clinical trials design, experimental design
- Sample size or power estimation
- Randomization sequence preparation
- Data processing and management
- Statistical analysis and modeling
- Results interpretation
- Presentation of statistical results for meetings and publications
- Programming/development of specialized statistical procedures
2. Biostatistical assistance in grant preparation
- Formulating study hypotheses
- Devising study designs
- Selecting appropriate endpoints and predictors
- Calculating sample size or statistical power
- Outlining an appropriate data analysis plan
- Writing and editing relevant sections of the application
3. Short statistical courses or workshops
- Graduate classes, noncredit short courses or seminars
- One-on-one biostatistical tutorials
- Use of statistical packages, e.g., SAS, SPSS
