Overview of Services

The High Content Screening (HCS) Facility supports image-based high content assays utilizing high throughput microscopy. The HCS team has expertise in all areas of high content image-based screens including sample preparation, image acquisition, image analysis, image data management, and algorithm development. The HCS facility also supports the screening efforts of the Functional Genomics Shared Resources, providing expertise for HCS assays using RNAi libraries.

 Assay Conceptualization:

  • Initial consultation for biological feasibility
  • Aid in selection of reagents, cell lines, and assay conditions

Single-Plate Experiments & Small-Scale HCS (Plate Preparation by PI Lab Scientest):

  • Use of HCS instruments including training
  • Use of analysis software including training
  • Develop and validate image analysis algorithms and assay read-outs

Medium- and Large-Scale Screens (Plate Preparation by HCS or Functional Genomics Facility):

  • Optimize assay biology
  • Develop image analysis algorithms and assay read-outs
  • Perform assay validation, miniaturization, and implementation
  • Screen in collaboration with HTS or Functional Genomics facilities

 Dara Analysis and Image-data Management:

  • Perform normalization, hit selection, and dose response
  • Short-term storage of images and raw data
  • Aid with images and data visualization
