Overview of Services

For over a century Drosophila research has been key to the understanding of many biological processes. In neurosciences, in particular, the fruit fly is currently at the forefront research in topics ranging from information processing to genetically encoded behaviour as it exhibits complex behaviors controlled by a nervous system that is orders of magnitude simpler than that of vertebrates.
The core purpose of the CCU Fly Platform is to enable researchers to use Drosophila as a model system by providing state of the art conditions for breeding, maintenance and manipulation.
